Dr. J Plays With The Pros

Dr. J goes one-on-one with N.Y. Rangers'
star rookie defenseman Matt Gilroy

The Breathe Easy Play Hard (BEPH) Foundation partners with professional sports franchises--including the National Hockey League's (NHL) New York Rangers, the National Basketball Association's (NBA) New York Knicks, the Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA) New York Liberty and Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls--to present community, public and media relations programs around youth athletes with asthma awareness.

BEPH plans to expand these programs throughout the NHL, NBA, WNBA and MLS in the years to come.

HOCKEY: NEW YORK RANGERS, MARCH 24, 2010

BEPH has a "secret weapon" this time around for the Rangers when they take on the cross-town rival NY Islanders Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 7 pm during a youth asthma awareness night at Madison Square Garden.

It's rookie defenseman Matt Gilroy, who was one of Dr. J's star patients as a youngster. The 25-year old won the Hobey Baker Award, given to the U.S.'s best college hockey player, as a Boston University senior last season.

The transition from college to pro hockey has always been extremely tough for any NHL rookie-and Matt's first season has been no exception to the rule. Yet, ever since Matt took on asthma at a very young age, he's shown over and over again ever since that he represents the epitome of the BEPH "yes he can win, yes he will win" attitude.

See what we mean when Dr. J. talks youth asthma awareness and its impact on exercise and sports with Matt in a halftime interview that'll be shown simultaneously on the MSG Network and game scoreboard. Look for Ranger-BEPH public service announcements to air on MSG Network and MSGVarsity.
